Carrot Cake

I made a carrot cake using Alton Brown's recipe.

It tasted like carrot bread. It had a dense texture. It wasn't light and fluffy like other cakes.

The recipe was pretty easy to follow. The hardest for me was separating the eggs. The recipe calls for using yogurt in place of some of the oil.

It also had a recipe for cream cheese icing. It was really easy and the best part of the recipe!

I am looking for a lighter, fluffier, and sweeter carrot cake. I give this recipe three and a half stars.

Here are some other carrot cake recipes I haven't tried, but want to:

Paula Deen's

This is one my mom made for my grandpa and he said it was the best carrot cake he's ever eaten! Best Carrot Cake Ever I'm not so sure about the pineapple.

  2. Wow, what a great idea for a blog. I love Alton Brown and breads, so this sounds right for me. I will have to give it a try. Do you think it would taste good as a bread, without the frosting? (I don't like frosting) Also, is five stars your top rating?

  4. I think its really neat that you have a cooking blog! My daughter has one too, and she has "Make It Monday" where she posts invented recipes. Your carrot cake sounds really yummy. Did you know Pampered Chef makes an egg separator? Its pretty neat, because it hangs on the edge of your bowl. I love it.

  6. I'm just finding your blog! Way to go....great baking!

I'm not sure about pineapple in carrot cake, either! My favorite carrot cake comes from the Martha Stewart Living Cookbook. She recommends an orange cream cheese frosting, but I just frost it with regular cream cheese frosting.

My 11 year old kiddo helps me with recipes on my blog once a month...we call it Kiddo in the Kitchen. :) I can't wait to show him yours!

  7. I've been wanting to try Paula Deen's recipe too - looks good and fairly easy (plus no raisins - I do not like raisins !!)

If you make it, please post it - would love to know what you think of it.
